With that in mind, let's begin.
By now, you have all read about the controversy surrounding Min Hee Jin.
Min Hee Jin, per several articles (which I will post within this thread), is the current CEO of Ador, an offshoot of Hybe/BitHit. Ador is the label of New Jeans, a Korean musical group of young women born between 2004 and 2008.
However, this is not Min Hee Jin's first post in the world of kpop.
A trusted source, who has been in the kpop scene longer than I have, advised that Min Hee Jin has been around for a while, with equally questionable artistic choices.
She started off at SM Entertainment.
Before I continue, I'm warning you now, I'm about to discuss potentially disturbing imagery and media.
Please assess your mental fortitude before continuing. I will try to keep the discussion as clinical as possible.
Min Hee Jin's social media presence is...questionable.
She has posted (to her personal page) imagery that brings to mind the exploitation of minors.
As I was saying, she started at SM Entertainment, per the article in the previous post, helping several of the groups reach prominence...which includes SHINee.
At the time of some of the more provocative photos, Taemin was 15 years old.
To remind everyone, the Korean age of majority is 20 years old.
Some of the pictures are present within the article I linked. There are also descriptions of the ones that are not pictured, but all of them depict underage boys in states of undress.
Adding to her list of credits, Min Hee Jin also worked with Girls Generation, f(x), and Red Velvet, among others.
Her Wiki page is bare, but gets the main points of her career across, without going into her personal life.
If you openly state that you post pictures of things you like, and those things are pedophilic in nature, AND you refuse to take them down, there is very little to misrepresent/misinterpret.
Reposting this article, to remind people that, per their statement, Ador made the album "with the heart of carefully baking cookies."
However, as has been discussed by others, "cookie" is a sexual euphemism the song in question doesn't try to hide.
As if this was not enough, Ador decided to release an official statement on their website regarding the "pure and innocent" charms of New Jeans, and the attempt to re-categorize what kpop fans have called concerning.
Quote: "The song revolves around the paired idea of burning CDs and baking cookies, which share the same conceptual verb in Korean. We backed this with a beat that you don’t often get to hear when it comes to K-pop girl groups, signaling the daring new direction we’re taking."
Quote continued: "Lyrically, dinner and water are synonymous with staple foods and, in the context of our song, represent just going through the motions. When you reach for dessert instead, you’re looking for something more exciting--"
Quote continued: "--than an everyday meal that goes beyond merely filling you up and tastes great, too."
This is Ador/Min Hee Jin doubling down on the concept that "Cookie" being sung by a minor is perfectly innocent, and there is no sexual innuendo to be seen.
Another quote from the very long statement Ador put out: "The ADOR team didn’t take any issue with the lyrics to “Cookie” when we were making the album because our vision for original and wholesome music was crystal clear to us."
My personal opinion is that I've heard a lot of discussion of sexual slang, but this is the first time I've heard a major company's offshoot trying to claim that a song, sung by a minor, about a slang term for a sexual organ, is "wholesome."
Something I want to bring up, that Min Hee Jin herself brought up, regarding liking/screenshotting the things we like. Do we all know the source of some of our favorite memes/pictures?
Are we unknowingly contributing to the re-victimizing of minors, even if they are adults now?
We, as consumers and enjoyers of kpop, need to be more critical of where the music comes from, and how the talent is treated, particularly when a person like Min Hee Jin can come along and not only reignite this kind of controversy, but is allowed to have access to minors.
Not only has she had a long career in kpop, she has been allowed access to minors for well over ten years, while dressing and having them perform according to whatever aesthetic makes you like children (in the wrong way).
This is a big problem.
This is only one of the many problems inherent in kpop.
You can enjoy an art form while being critical of it. This is a lesson that people need to learn, and quickly.
Just because something is common in kpop does not mean that you-the-audience has to accept it.
I've written a few threads about how kpop companies manipulate fans and talent. You can't trust that the talent is as happy as they say they are.
Most companies hire talent before they hit their majority at 20 years old.

Within these fanbases for the talent, you have people who, loudly and enthusiastically, state that Hybe is a great company, and can do no wrong, because why else would their artists stay with them?
"We can trust our faves, they'll tell us if they're unhappy!"
It's very easy to manipulate children/teenagers into their careers, especially when the contracts are frequently written in the company's favor.
Something to keep in mind while you think about what Min Hee Jin and her enablers (ie, Hybe and SM), have done during their existence.
If we want the artists we enjoy to be healthier and happier, we need to use our power as consumers to ensure that the companies are held accountable for their actions.
If you don't want pedophiliac content, hold Ador accountable. Keep talking about this.
If you support a company like this, remember, you are giving permission for them to continue their treatment, and to produce more of the same content.
