Here's some cool, comfy, and affordable clothes for the grocery store: durable raw denim jeans from Gustin, super soft LL Bean chamois shirts, vintage cardigans and army jackets on eBay, all stylish and get better with age. They’re affordable, last long, and don’t need to be perfect—just wear and enjoy!

Some suggestions for stylish, comfortable, and affordable clothes that you can wear to the grocery store:

1. Gustin's jeans ($90): Made from raw denim, which means the fabric has not been pre-washed or -distressed. You put in the fades, so they look natural over time. Made from Cone Mill denim and cut-and-sewn in the USA. Much better than the fast-fashion stretch cotton stuff and will last a long time. Terrific value for $90. When they get worn down, repair them. They look even better that way.

2. LL Bean chamois shirt ($70 new, $20 eBay): You will not find a more comfortable shirt. This is made from pure cotton, but feels like the surface of a billiard table. Super plush and looks better with age.

3. Vintage cardigan ($100 eBay): There are so many of these great vintage cardigans on eBay. Search for the term "Cowichan" (even though not everything will be an authentic Cowichan, much will be good). Alternatively, search for "vintage Shetland." Those are hardy knits that last a long time and can be had for like $20-40.

4. Vintage Army jacket ($50-ish): You can find these for like $50 or $75 on eBay and Etsy, or even cheaper at your local military surplus depot or vintage shop. There are lots of versions here, such as the jungle jacket, M-43, and M-51. My favorite is the M-65, which has a zippered stand-up collar with a hidden hood.

These are the sorts of things that will look better with wear and tear, so you don't have to baby them. You will welcome the stains and rips and patina. If you don't get stuff super tight, they will also feel comfortable. It doesn't take any more work to put on these clothes than other clothes.

@dieworkwear It's hard to find stylish, comfortable, affordable clothes that fit well. I'd dress better if it weren't so time-consuming to shop.

some photos from my friend Peter. the jeans start off very dark because they haven't been pre-distressed or -washed, so you end up putting in the fades through natural wear.

@dieworkwear Can confirm @weargustin has good jeans. Any plans for a looser fit with a higher rise? https://t.co/Gd0VGiotik
