Your food contains over 10,000 different synthetic chemicals. These toxins are linked to chronic fatigue, diabetes, heart disease, cancer and more. They also wreck your hormone levels. Here are 7 toxins in food that are making you sick:
1. Glyphosate (roundup) Used on most grains, this herbicide has been linked to many diseases including cancer. It also impairs the cells that produce testosterone. Higher intake of glyphosate has been correlated with decreased testosterone production.
2. MSG A flavor enhancer found in many foods, it has been linked to many health issues. In rat studies it has been shown to decrease gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) which is the first step in producing testosterone. Lower GnRH = lower testosterone.
3. Food coloring Found in over 50% of food, artificial colorings increase inflammation and have been linked to various cancers and other health issues. Many of these dyes are banned outside of the US.
4. Sodium Benzoate Sodium benzoate is a preservative found in foods such as salad dressings, soda, jams, and other condiments. It is converted to benzene which is known to cause cancer. It also harms health by increasing inflammation and oxidative stress in the body.
5. Nitrites Nitrites are found mainly in processed meats like bacon, hot dogs, and deli meat. These preservatives have been shown to decrease production of all steroid hormones including testosterone and estrogen.
6. BpA Used in plastics and many food containers, BpA has been known to disrupt hormones for years. It acts like estrogen in the body causing signals to produce less testosterone. It has also been linked to insulin resistance, diabetes, and obesity.
7. Propylparaben (Pb) Propylparaben acts similarly to BpA in mimicking estrogen. Pb is a preservative found in tortillas and crackers. It has been shown to decrease fertility and lower testosterone. The higher the dose of Pb, the lower testosterone was in test subjects.
