This is my time to shine, because my favorite hobby is being Dr Phil's #1 hater. Let's talk about some of the things this piece of shit has done, shall we? 🧵

1/ Let's start with the obvious: "Dr" Phil hasn't held a license to practice medicine for two decades. But he's been under investigation by medical boards for a hell of a lot longer than that. In the 80's, Texas found that he had an inappropriate relationship w/ a patient.

2/ Dr Phil has been scamming ppl since before he became the fake TV doctor we know today. In the 70s, he ran a "Grecian Health Spa", selling expensive lifetime memberships to customers. He got the $$$$, then abruptly closed the business, filed bankruptcy, & fled the state.

3/ In 2003, Dr Phil put his name & image on scam nutritional supplements & meal replacement drinks. But their advertising was all lies, & in 2004, the FTC began investigating & the company stopped manufacturing. They ended up paying out a $10.5 million settlement to consumers.

4/ In 2008, Dr Phil ambushed Britney Spears in the hospital in an attempt to get Britney & her parents to participate in a televised "intervention" on the Dr Phil Show But he hadn't been licensed for years at that point, so the intervention would have been for entertainment only

5/ After Britney Spears & her family refused to go along with Dr Phil's attempt to capitalize off of her distress, he started talking to the press about her mental health, without her permission. Again, this is after he expected her to TRUST him as a "DOCTOR".

6/ In 2016, Dr Phil exploited an obviously deeply unwell Shelley Duvall, turning her into a public spectacle for entertainment by airing a genuinely cruel and distressing interview with the former actress. There is no person's distress that Dr Phil won't monetize.

7/ Over the last several years, scores of former Dr Phil guests have come forward to talk about the ways he exploited them. He regularly would have alcohol put in the dressing rooms of guests he KNOWS are struggling with alcoholism & had producers take guests to buy street drugs

8/ Many of his underaged guests have also spoke out against him, talking about their horrific experiences after Dr. Phil sent them to dangerous wilderness camps, where children were regularly and systematically abused. It took lawsuits for him to stop sending new kids there.

9/ forgot I had dinner plans (eek!) so having to pause this thread temporarily. But TRUST that I will be back later with more reasons you should hate Dr Phil, because trust me: there are SO MANY MORE.
