We’re kicking off the start of our Gemini 2.0 era with Gemini 2.0 Flash, which outperforms 1.5 Pro on key benchmarks at 2X speed (see chart below). I’m especially excited to see the fast progress on coding, with more to come.
Developers can try an experimental version in AI Studio and Vertex AI today. It is also available to try in @GeminiApp on the web today, mobile coming soon.
We’re also introducing a new agentic feature called Deep Research in Gemini Advanced, a research assistant that can dig into complex topics and create reports for you with links to the relevant sources.
We are investing in the frontiers of agentic capabilities with a few early prototypes. Project Mariner is built with Gemini 2.0 and is able to understand and reason across information - pixels, text, code, images + forms - on your browser screen, and then uses that info to complete tasks for you.
When evaluated against the WebVoyager benchmark, it achieved a state-of-the-art result of 83.5% working as a single agent setup.
We’re also testing Gemini 2.0’s advanced reasoning capabilities in AI Overviews in Search to help answer more complex and multi-step questions, and will roll it out more broadly next year.
