Tom Bower stated in an interview that he hopes his book "Revenge" hastens the downfall of the Sussexes "because they pose a real threat to the royal family". The book has an expressed motive and numerous inaccuracies have been discovered. 🧵 https://t.co/EVxazP6OXq

The book claims Emma Watson refused to meet with her after a 2015 Women's Day event:

The book states that Thomas Markle was "emphatic" Meghan Markle never worked at Humphrey Yogart "when she was at school", however Humphrey Yogart has confirmed she worked there in the mid '90s:

Bower's book claims that Meghan became more difficult to work worth after becoming involved with Prince Harry, however numerous people from co-stars to the assistant director describe her as the same "humble" person.

Bower's book also attempts to paint the friendship between Meghan and Serena Williams as being more like acquaintances. However, there are numerous photos and publicly shared messages documenting both women supporting each other over the years.

(Another screenshot from 2014, in this one Serena refers to Meghan as her "friend" and links to Meghan's website, The Tig).

"Royal sources" were quick to deny the claims in Bower's book that the Duchess of Cornwall remarked, "Wouldn't it be funny if your child had ginger Afro hair?"

After The Times ran an excerpt from Tom Bower's book, Sam Kashner, who wrote the Vanity Fair piece on her which Bower covered in "Revenge", felt compelled to write a letter to The Times clarifying that he found her "exceptionally warm and gracious and admired her..."

In "Revenge", Bower claims "Kashner noticed that the kitchen walls were covered with photos of herself..." These white tiled walls of the small kitchen in the rented apartment, two of which appeared to be uncovered by pictures of her? The kind of walls you can't hang anything on?

In this section, Bower claims that when interviewed by Larry King, Meghan looked "unusually unattractive with greasy hair, rumpled clothes and peaky eyes." See screenshot from the Larry King interview in question.

Bower also claims that Meghan "edged closer to her fellow actor" while Patrick J. Adams mentioned Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs which occurred at 6:15 of this interview. Meghan did not edge closer, she looked down then brushed her hair from her shoulder. https://t.co/wBGGPkngJg

The section in Bower's book on Bogart's adoption should have been fact checked. Just one example, Bower states that Sally Bedell Smith's son "bought" Bogart's brother. Rescue dogs are not purchased, they are adopted.

In "Revenge", Bower makes a number of unflattering references to Omid Scobie who he erroneously refers to as "Omar Scobie" at one point in the book.

I will continue to add to this thread but here's another one on the matter: https://t.co/1zePJinKH8

As he did with Serena Williams, Bower also downplays Meghan's friendship with Priyanka Chopra, describing her as an "acquaintance" invited to her wedding. Their friendship has been well documented in the press & on social media. Priyanka herself has called it a "real friendship".

Even when Bower cites sources such as Abby Wathen's comments in the ITV documentary "Prince Harry and Meghan: Truly, Madly, Deeply", he offers the most uncharitable interpretation of what was actually said and manages to misconstrue events referred to in the cited source.

Bower suggests Abby and Meghan met "about that time" of their divorce, however they met on the set of "Random Encounters". In the clip Abby says Meghan had just booked "Suits". (Meghan booked Suits on August 24, 2010, a year before she married Trevor.) https://t.co/PsbqyRPCWP

In "Revenge", Bower gets basic facts wrong like Edward Enninful's age, stating Enninful was 41 when he and Meghan discussed her guest editing an issue of British Vogue. Enninful was born on February 22, 1972, making him 47 in 2019.

Bower also lists Meghan's height as 5'5" instead of 5'6" as it appears on her acting resume attached to her headshot as posted on Facebook by Endorse Management Group. (screenshot source: https://t.co/NfIZC0lnlO)

Also, 5 inch heels do not make you 5 inches taller. A 5 inch heel would only add ~3 inches to a person's height because science. (The exact amount of the increase depends on the shoe's construction such as if the shoe has a platform.) (Screenshot source: https://t.co/MAEIozVIUj)

The citations in Tom Bower's book "Revenge" rely heavily on the Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday and Mail Online for which he indicates in the Endnotes that he "makes no apology". The breakdown is as follows: Daily Mail: 243 citations Mail on Sunday: 42 citations Online: 8 citations

The Daily Mail banned as a source from Wikipedia because of "the Daily Mail’s reputation for poor fact checking, sensationalism and flat-out fabrication." But it's apparently fine for Bower as the cited source for an authorized biography on the Sussexes. https://t.co/X87l4m5ihF

The Factual analyzed 240 news sources and determined "the Daily Mail scored an average Factual Grade of 39.7%", indicating, "This places the site in the 1st percentile of our dataset — it scored the third-lowest of any news source." https://t.co/eEWi4oTnJW

In one instance, Bower cites two Daily Mail articles. However, when I pulled them up online, I could find no mention of the claim that assistant private secretary Amy Pickerill resigned because she found working for Meghan "stressful". The departure was described as "amicable".

In fact later that year, Amy Pickerill attended the launch of Meghan's Smart Set Capsule Collection. https://t.co/aRuQWA5EQq

Samantha was 16 when Meghan was born, not 13, calling into question yet another passage in "Revenge". Bower cites Samantha Markle's "The Diary of Princess Pushy's Sister," for this passage, making it unclear if the error was in the unreliable source material or Bower's mistake.

.@TudorChick1501 did a thread on Samantha Markle's "The Diary of Princess Pushy's Sister" which revealed basic factual errors like Meghan Markle's date of birth so Tom Bower using it as source material for his biography was certainly a choice. https://t.co/4qxe3w8aSD
