Louise, Carol & Hannah Hunt, 3 women, 3 lives, stolen by a man who felt so entitled to their attention that he was willing to kill them if he couldn't have it. A man kills a woman every 3 days in the UK, never mind all those who coerce, bully and stalk us.

Same scripts, same mindsets. Women as objects, property, status symbols, highly valued fantasies, poorly valued entities. KC's brother attacked and killed a teenager who sullied his prized red Mustang, his, his, his. Possession is the name of the game, a woman or a Mustang. His!

Louise, Carol & Hannah Hunt were people with lives of their own, let's remember them as themselves and not as the wife and daughters of a man (who has all our sympathies), or the victims of another man. That would be the ultimate negation of their humanity, say their names!

Violence against women is not rare, it's everywhere, cases pile high on detective desks, barely touched whilst they run out to attend yet another case, and another one. It's endemic in poor areas but as present in posher ones, do I see bruises under that Hermès scarf?

It's everywhere; in social media, in the songs we listen to (Every breath you take?), in the streaming empires built on murdered women and romance, and especially in porn, that dark distorting mirror where our youth go for sex ed and too many adult men for a bit of "harmless" fun

We need more police and justice resources, and I have real hope that @YvetteCooperMP and @jessphillips will bring real change. But it won't, it can't be enough, because we should be aiming to prevent violence, not just react to it. Yes. I know that that is not a small programme!

We need: -Centres like Sure Start that can support young parents and children from pregnancy to educate support and detect issues @AngelaRayner, -To deal with access to violent porn, -To fight for better narratives in movies and series -To teach positive forms of masculinity

And so much more, including being more discriminating and vigilant with what we watch, buy and with the behaviours we tolerate among our peers. Especially if you are a man, don't be a bystander, you have power, use it, it could save a life, maybe you have already saved a life...

We all have a role to play if we don't want to carry on having to @CountDeadWomen
