ICC arrest order for Putin and Ukraine's tantrum that Mongolia did not execute it speaks volumes about the former's ignorance. ➡️ Mongolia and Russia are more than just friendly neighbors. There have essentially never been borders b/n the two for trade & cultural exchanges.

2. ➡️ Russia/USSR saved Mongolia twice from the Japanese attempts to invade. Look up Battle of Khalhin Gol. That's why Mongolians revere Marshal Zhukov (image above).

3. ➡️ Mongolia paid back 200% during Nazi Germany's invasion of Russia/USSR by providing military aid to extent possible, 500k horses, million tons of meat, 300k gold, unlimited wool (all Soviet officer corps's fatigues were made from Mongolian wool).

4. ➡️ Despite their tiny population at the time (>1 mil), every 10th soldier in the Red Army fighting against the Japanese was a Mongol.

5. ➡️ Unlike the western aid, Mongolian help was genuine and with no expectations of return or interest attached. To help Russia/USSR, Mongolian gave up nearly all, and even went back to hunter-gather practice for a while, something they hadn't had to do since Genghis Khan era.

So, to demand Mongolia arrest a Russian president was an utter ignorance, blind arrogance; or most likely both. It's a shame Ukraine joined the bandwagon, although it benefited the most from Mongolia's help against Nazi Germans.
