#GeraldsDevotional Be Weak In Order To Be Made Strong
The life of a follower of Jesus who has been filled with the Holy Spirit is a series of contradictions in the eyes of this world. To the non-believers, this type of life makes no sense whatsoever and they will mock that which they do not understand. Jesus described and emphasized
how our lives will go contrary to the norm in the beatitudes section of the Sermon on the Mount. So we are actually blessed when the world mocks us. When we ponder all of those apparent contradictions, there is a central theme that emerges. This theme, which appears all
throughout the bible, is that we find life by being willing to die. In Matthew 16:25, Jesus also said “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; and whosoever will lose his life for My sake shall find it.” All of this goes counter to the way that we naturally think and
respond. The important theme behind this topic is the subject of pride verses humility. This is the core of our salvation and the key to living the Spirit-filled life in Christ Jesus. We must be willing to die to ourselves in every way so that the Lord may fill us with His true
life. The life that we try to hold on to in our own strength or understanding is not life at all. From the perspective of the Kingdom of God, it is a temporary thing… mere dust in the wind. So when we are weak for Christ’s sake, He builds us up and makes us strong in ways that
we could never do on our own. Now in today’s scripture let’s read how Paul describes this and encourages us to be weak by pointing at the way Jesus lived it out as an example for us. Notice what the end result was for Him after He humbled Himself. This familiar passage is found
in Philippians chapter 2 beginning at verse 5. The Humbled and Exalted Christ 5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a
bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. - Philippians 2:5-11 @threadreaderapp unroll
