People showing up in the mentions to defend the Gujarati Gouger on the grounds that "you should let the market decide", "price controls are socialism", etc. This is extremely retarded and it should not have to be explained why this is retarded, but apparently many of you are in fact retarded, so. Under normal circumstances price controls are absolutely a bad idea. State mandated price controls lead to shortages. Yes, everyone gets this, and no, you are not a special smart boy for putting on your Murray Rothbard hat. Furthermore, no one is talking about state mandated price controls, you fucking spergs. A gas station owner making an executive decision to put up a sign saying "5 gallons max per customer" is not socialism and it is not bureaucracy. "But the market runs on self interest though!" Natural disasters are not normal circumstances, and the usual rules do not apply. People put their self interest aside for the duration, and sacrifice their time and their resources, risking their health and their lives, to help one another out until normality can be reestablished. At least, some people do. White people, it seems, have this instinct to a greater degree than others. Which is why white people are reacting with visceral disgust to this vile little inbred goblin taking the opportunity to wet his beak, instead of doing what little he can to help. However, even if we accept the Randian frame of "enlightened self interest" being the foundation of all good things in the world, the poo is not, in fact, enlightened. Sure, he can make a few extra bucks by quadrupling what he charges for gas. In the short term. Long term, he will get boycotted. The locals will shun his gas station no matter how many discounts he offers. Locals have long and vindictive memories. They will not forget, or forgive, that when it mattered, he acted like a petty crook. He'll be bankrupt in a year. To say nothing of the damage that he's done to Indians in general. I would not be surprised if people started boycotting Indian gas stations all over Appalachia after this (in fact, you should do this, to make it impossible for Indians to make a living). The point being, he chose short term gain at the expense of the long term viability of his business. He is not only greedy, he is stupid. As is everyone defending this.
White owner: "I could make a quick buck, but I live in this community and if I charge 10 bucks for gas everyone will hate me. And it would just be plain wrong, folks gotta pull together in situations like this."
