The final design of Ethereum
A proposed redesign of the consensus layer, to skip to the endgame
Only touching the consensus layer makes the Beam Chain forward compatible
Nothing changes to the apps
The Beacon chain is 5 years old! Old!
We now have breakthroughs in SNARKs, that the Beacon Chain does not leverage
There’s also a lot of tech debt that needs to be removed
- Faster blocktimes! 4 second blocks
- 3 slot finality
- SNARK the chain!
- upgrade for quantum resistance
Green - were leaving in the main roadmap
Red - The Beam chain upgrade - we do this all at once
Time to get rid of all the tech debt
The blue line - normal incremental improvements via yearly hard forks
The Beam Fork - a parallel effort focusing on batching all the ambitious non-incremental upgrades
