This thread talks about how sometimes women miss signals that their partners aren't really happy or excited around them, even in long-term relationships. A TikTok girl showed her boyfriend's weird, unhappy reaction to her surprise, which many didn’t notice. It’s a reminder for women to pay attention to body language and small signs, not just words, to understand how their partner truly feels.

Sadly this can be true even in a relationship. On TikTok a girl posted a video of herself surprising her boyfriend on New Year's Eve, and obvious to everyone else (but not to her) when he saw her he wasn't delighted -- he turned red, he scanned the room, he even pushed her away. His reaction was so bad that some creators even theorized that she was a stalker. She wasn't; they were engaged a month ago.

You are not in a situationship. You are texting a man who doesn’t like you.

there has been much TikTok discourse about it, but it's also surprisingly common that women don't see when their boyfriend/partner/husband is just not excited (or even pleased) to be around them.

She even posted another video showing another angle, hoping people would see that he was just surprised, but it was actually even worse. He didn't look like he had been surprised, he looked like he had been apprehended. The comments all notice it but the first creator didn't. So sometimes it's good for women to pay attention to small reactions like this.

Like you don't need to be the green-lines people, but if you're a woman it's worth remembering that love can scramble your brain and it can really help to take body language seriously and just observe (or have a friend observe) the interactions on occasion. Here's the full moment.

There are a few questions about whether they're actually engaged. Listen, we don't know these people. Also, "Facebook official" often lags an actual relationship; it's not like people announce a boyfriend or girlfriend on Facebook the day they agree they're in a relationship. I saw someone do a deep-dive video that said that they were engaged. Who knows! But even if they weren't, I think we can agree that a boyfriend (even if he's not a fiancé) acting this way is equally bizarre.

And the point is that this interaction is representative of a lot of other relationships where the couple seem to have mismatched interest in being around each other, so it's important for women to pay attention to body language and actions, and not just words.
